A unique health program for CSIR family
Phenome India is a significant initiative by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) aimed at enhancing the understanding of health patterns and disease risk factors specific to the Indian population. It encompasses a series of health check-up camps and long-term cohort studies under the project named PI-CHeCK (CSIR Health Cohort Knowledgebase). The project aims to gather comprehensive health data across various CSIR laboratories in India.
The initiative focuses on identifying India-specific risk factors for cardio-metabolic diseases and developing tailored healthcare solutions. The data collected include clinical questionnaires, lifestyle and dietary habits, body composition measurements, scanning-based assessments, blood biochemistry, and molecular assays.
This project aligns with the broader goal of "Swasthya Bharat Viksit Bharat" (Healthy India, Developed India), emphasizing the importance of health and wellness in national development. The health check-up camps, such as those held at CSIR-SERC in Chennai and CSIR-NIScPR in New Delhi, are crucial steps toward gathering this data and fostering holistic health within the CSIR community.
Phenome India, spearheaded by CSIR, is a pioneering initiative aimed at understanding the unique health landscape of India through the PI-CHeCK project. This flagship study seeks to identify India-specific risk factors for cardiometabolic diseases, marking a significant stride toward personalized and precision medicine. The study is conducted in collaboration with experts from various CSIR labs nationwide.
PI-CHeCK is a long-term cohort study designed to encompass the diverse Indian population. It collects comprehensive data, including clinical questionnaires, lifestyle and dietary habits, body composition measurements, scanning-based assessments, blood biochemistry, and molecular assay-based data. This extensive data collection aims to advance medical knowledge and pave the way for tailored healthcare solutions.
