Objectives

The primary objective of Phenome India is to enhance the understanding of the unique health landscape of India by identifying specific health risk factors and developing personalized healthcare solutions. This initiative is led by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and aims to achieve several key goals:

01

Identify India-Specific Health Risk Factors: Phenome India focuses on recognizing risk factors for cardio-metabolic diseases that are particular to the Indian population. This includes analyzing genetic, lifestyle, and environmental factors that contribute to these health issues.

02

Gather Comprehensive Health Data: The project involves collecting detailed health information from participants, including clinical questionnaires, dietary habits, body composition measurements, and various biochemical and molecular assays. This extensive data collection aims to create a robust health cohort that represents the diverse Indian population.

03

Promote Precision Medicine: By understanding the health profiles and risk factors specific to the Indian demographic, Phenome India aims to advance precision medicine. This approach allows for the development of more targeted and effective treatments and preventive strategies tailored to individual and population needs

04

Support National Health Goals: The initiative aligns with the broader national objective of "Swasthya Bharat Viksit Bharat" (Healthy India, Developed India), underscoring the importance of health and wellness in national development. By improving health outcomes, the project contributes to the overall socio-economic progress of the country

05

Foster Holistic Health: Phenome India also aims to promote holistic health within the CSIR community by conducting health check-up camps across various CSIR laboratories. These camps are designed to monitor and improve the health and well-being of the participants.

06

Development of Diagnostic and Prognostic Biomarkers: The initiative has made strides in developing diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for various diseases. These biomarkers are crucial for early detection and effective management of diseases, thereby improving overall health outcomes
